Description

I always thought that I could only get down to a Dec of about -15, and then last year I realised I could get down to -17! Hooray. However, I woke up the other night at 3.a.m., and much to my stunning amazement, I saw the three main stars of Scorpius, along with Antares,  just above my neighbour's tree... and I determined that for around an hour and a half, or so, there was opportunity to image this region, which previously I had thought impossible, as my scope effectively scrapes across my neighbours' rooftops! And with having an 8" Rasa now, I thought it might be worthwhile, because it picks up the data so quickly. So, this is the first out of two objects from this area of the sky, with C60 being at -19 Dec! [So a little more imaging time for this object, because it is so much higher up in the sky!   : )   ]    Yes, my imaging time this low down is very limited indeed, and not easy because of the atmosphere - and the guiding was a little more tricky too... But I am so pleased to take this wonderful galaxy, something I never thought I would be able to do, unless I moved house! Thanks everyone. Simon
